Parents,I am embarrassed to say I forgot to publish this post before winter break. Well here it is now for you to enjoy. =)
Dear Parents,
Our festive week started last Friday with the fabulous show and wonderful party and crafts! Special thanks to all the moms who helped out with the snacks and crafts!
Monday was our gingerbread people. Each student received a boy and a girl shapes cookie (some cookies were made out of gingerbread and others were made out of sugar cookies). First all the students received a picture of their cookie with decorations on it. The students then copied the pattern onto their cookie. Then students also had a creative cookie where they could decorate it in their own manner. Thanks to Ms. Susan for organizing this. Also THANK YOU to ALL of you for donating the supplies!
On Tuesday came in educated on how people in England celebrate Christmas. First we learned all about what happens Christmas day and words that are different depending on the country. Each student received a "cracker" ( this post gives you the idea http://www.britshoppe.com/brpacr.html). We made triffles out of pudding, pineapple, lady fingers, and blueberries.
On Wednesday we celebrated the Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Mrs. Patorgis dressed as Mrs. Clause and read the story to us in the media center. We then came back down the classroom and sipped hot (really just warm) chocolate and ate graham crackers.
On Thursday, Tucker's mom had dancers come in from Rhythm Dance Center perform some holiday favorite dances. The students were enthralled watching the dancers on stage. They clapped and smiled through the entire performance. Also as usual show and tell was a big hit! The students love being able to get up in front of their classmates and show their favorite items. We enjoyed homemade pizza from Alex's mom for snack.
Thank you for everyone who has worked so hard this past week to make this memorable for our students. I apologize if I left anyone out in my thank yous and memories. Also thank you everyone for you donations and time this first semester. Second semester this year is sure to be great!
