Dear Parents,
For some reason as the school year goes on each week gets more and more exciting. This is our last week of studying The Mitten and reciting the Caught a Bear nursery rhyme. I have been very proud of the students as each one in their own way has responded with more independence to the story and this nursery rhyme.
On Monday we started out the week with measuring our selves with felt mittens. We then created a chart of how many mittens tall each of us were. We then also talked afterwards who was the tallest and who was the smallest. Ms. Wendy had us start our new art project to make a snowman.
Monday afternoon and Tuesday mornings groups did a little cooking and made snowmen made out bananas similar to these snowmen found here http://littlestlearners.blogspot.com/2011/01/eeeeeeeeeekkkkk.html
except we used skittles instead of blueberries. The kids thought the project was very fun.
On Tuesday we made textured snowmen with Ms. Susan. The morning group also had the opportunity to make snow from insta snow which is always so much fun!
On Wednesday morning we made construction paper penguins. The afternoon group was also scheduled to make this, but the weather drill interrupted our day so we were unable to do it. However, all students who were here for the drill were very good! I was so proud of how they handled it.
On Thursday we talked about how people live in different houses around the world. We also learned a little about igloos. Students then created their own paper igloos. We emphasized it was a very cold place.
Keep collecting your box tops! Last collection is February 14! Even if you only send in 2 that is still $0.20!
Have a great evening!

Our TIme Together
Hi Parents,
Sorry that it has been a while since I blogged. I think it taking all of us a little extra time to get used to being back to school and having indoor recess has certainly not helped! We have done many exciting things upon returning to school:
Morning Group:
Made snowmen with our names
Took a sleigh ride with Ms. Susan
Made pretend winter hats with a pom pom and shell pattern
Colored bears then hid them inside a cave to talk about hibernation
Did marble painting with Ms. Wendy on mittens
Put animals inside a giant mitten just like our story
Afternoon Group:
Made snowmen with our names
Colored paper bears and hid them inside a cave and talked about hibernation
Made pretend winter hats with pom poms and shell pattern
Put snow (cotton balls) on top of mittens and practiced our counting
Did marble painting with Ms. Wendy on mittens
Put animals inside a giant mitten just like our story
And the week isn't even over yet!
