Artist Day

As per Roswell North tradition Artist Day was a success!  Your kiddos were amazing!  I was so proud of how well behaved everyone was.  Also they were very interested in seeing the different artists.  Part of what makes artist day magical is each section is only 15 minutes long so the kids don't have enough time to get bored before they are ushered to the next room.

In the morning we learned
- the magic of movie making.  A camera man came in and showed the kids how different shots were created.  Also he took a couple of minutes of film of the kiddos waving.  They of course loved seeing themselves on the big screen.
- how to paint using watercolors.  An artist came in to show them her work and how she created beautiful watercolor creations.
- about storytelling.  A wonderful story teller came in to tell a story about a princess and bugs (a great way to get the boys' and the girls' attention).  She also used her guitar to sing along with a silly song about making problems.  The kids loved the hand motions and mimic ed her back.
- about the violin, clarinet, and flute.  Former RNE music teachers came back to perform for the kids.  They played various songs and let the kids guess them (we knew the ABC and Zip-de-doo-dah).
- played outside (that is extremely important when you are 4)
- about Chinese drums and the Chinese string instruments.  They create beautiful sounds.

In the afternoon we continued to learn about
- making pottery.  A potter came in and showed us how to throw clay.
- percussion.  A man on steel drums, a drum set, and a bass guitarist played the Sponge Bob theme song.  The kids clapped and cheered.
- puppets.  The kids loved this one.  She showed us various types of puppets.

It was an incredibly full day, but it was WONDERFUL!!  Make sure your tired children get some rest so they are ready for Monday!

Also please be checking the blog for updates on Field Day, Book Character Day, and Class Party/Water Day!

Have a great weekend!
