Spring Time

Dear Parents,

We started with our spring unit today.  The students worked together to create a bird's nest in a basket with paper grass and stuffed birds.  Then the students went and hunted for eggs.  After they collected all the eggs we went inside to make edible bird's nests out of chow mein noodles.  Students had to be willing to get very sticky and messy while doing this project.  Some were very excited to eat their project while others were content to take theirs home.

For the month of April we will be reading the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and learning about spring.  I encourage you to read this book at home with your students.  It is an enjoyable book with lots of math concepts included.

Parents please keep track of your child's balance in the cafeteria.  As we get towards the end of the year they will not allow us to charge for lunches/breakfasts so if your child has a negative balance I will have to call you and ask you bring up food or bring up money.

April 20- Hungry Caterpillar Snack- you will be receiving a note asking you to send in one of the food items from the very hungry caterpillar for the kids to share with the class
April 27- Artist Day- students are able to walk around and see different artists/musicians/creative people
May 11- Water Day- send your student in a bathing suit with an extra pair of clothes- we are getting wet
May 16- Field Day- come join us for a day of fun outdoor events
May 17- Class Party- 10am- contact Claire's mom or Tucker's mom for more details
May 18- Last Day of School
