Our Valentine's Day talk has continued today. Today in the morning the students put hearts in order from biggest to smallest.
Don't forget tomorrow to have your student bring in their Valentine's Box/Bag along with their Valentine's to give out and their BOX TOPS! Please please send them in!
Also please make sure to send in your white t-shirt for us to tie dye for the show.
Carpool!
If your child normally rides carpool in the morning and they will not be coming through carpool please let me know through e-mail or text as soon as possible. There are adults who specifically wait outside for our children in the morning and they worry if your child does not come through carpool.
If your child does not normally ride carpool and they will be riding in carpool in the morning please text or e-mail as soon as possible so I can alert the carpool volunteers. Make sure to tell the volunteers you have a preschool special education student.
I know this is not a perfect system, but we are trying our best to keep the kids safe.
Now for some activities from our OT's:
Fine Motor Fun:
· Pretty Patterns: Practice making patterns using Sweetheart Candy (colored hearts). Arrange the candy in a sequence and see if your child can finish the pattern (ie. Pink-White-Pink-White). You can make the task more challenging by making the pattern more complex.
· Color Sorting: Practice color recognition and sorting using Sweetheart candy.
· Grasping Skills: Work on pincer grasp by having your child pick up the small candy with thumb and index finger. Use tweezers/tongs to pick up the candy to work on hand strengthening and hand-eye coordination.
· Pre-writing: Practice pre-writing strokes (vertical and horizontal lines, circles) or shapes. Fold the paper and put it into an envelope. These activities work on bilateral hand use.
